The City of Ripon recently entered into a Project Improvement Agreement with Noosa Energy Storage, a requirement for the development of the Ripon Reliability Project at 1302 Frontage Rd.
No discussion was necessary per approval at the Oct. 8 Ripon City Council meeting.
The project was granted a one-year extension by the Planning Commission not too long ago.
“The purpose of the PIA is to guarantee the completion of improvements within the public right-of-way in accordance with the previously approved Conditional Use Permit,” said City Administrator Kevin Werner in his staff report from the monthly session.
This was added conditions approved with the Aug. 19 one-year extension along with city standards, Werner noted.
The Noosa Energy Storage calls for construction of a lithium-ion battery storage system in the area near Flying J and the PG&E substation.
Since 2020, these energy storage projects have seen significant growth throughout the state.
As for the local project – the complex would be on the 4.9-acre triangle parcel, bordering on Santos Avenue and the Frontage Road – once completed, would utilize Tesla Megapack 2XL technology, and would be strategically positioned to address energy needs.
