Hithium and MANAT to establish 5GWh KSA BESS production facility

Hithium Energy Storage Technology has announced a joint venture with Nabilah AlTunisi's company, MANAT, to establish a battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing facility with 5 gigawatt

Hithium Energy Storage Technology has announced a joint venture with Nabilah AlTunisi's company, MANAT, to establish a battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing facility with 5 gigawatt hours (GWh) annual production capacity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The new venture, named Hithium MANAT, aims to combine Hithium's energy storage expertise with MANAT's local knowledge to cater to the Saudi market.

Nabilah AlTunisi stated: "Today marks a pivotal moment in Saudi Arabia's energy journey. The development of one of the first advanced BESS manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA [Middle East and North Africa] region underscores this commitment.

“This strategic alliance will not only provide access to world-class energy storage technology but also generate local employment opportunities, stimulate technological innovation, and actively contribute to realising the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives.

“Together, we're ensuring Saudi Arabia maintains its leadership position in the global energy transition.”

The partnership was unveiled at the Solar & Storage Live KSA exhibition, where Hithium also showcased its latest energy storage solutions designed for desert environments.

The systems are equipped with advanced sandstorm protection and can endure extreme temperatures.

The systems support extended discharge cycles exceed 12 hours, tailored to the unique conditions of the region.

Hithium is headquartered in Xiamen, China and operates in global locations including California, Chongqing, Dubai, Munich, New York and Shenzhen.

Hithium Middle East and Africa (MEA) region general manager Sean Sun said: “Our partnership with MANAT underscores Hithium's commitment to nurturing strong local relationships and advancing the region's long-term development goals.

“By establishing this subsidiary and investing in a local BESS factory, we are not only expanding our global footprint but also directly contributing to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. 'Local for Local' is our promise to foster local energy storage growth.”

In July 2024, Hithium launched a 55-megawatt-hours battery energy storage system project in Razlog, southwestern Bulgaria.

"Hithium and MANAT to establish 5GWh KSA BESS production facility" was originally created and published by Power Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
