From Oct. 21 to Nov. 3, in-state students can apply to up to five SUNY or CUNY schools without paying the $50 fee
Starting Monday, New Yorkers applying to certain colleges in the state can save money, thanks to a new initiative.
In-state students can apply to up to five colleges within the SUNY or CUNY systems without paying an application fee. Normally, each application costs $50, allowing applicants to save up to $250.
Officials at SUNY Plattsburgh are optimistic that the fee waiver will have a positive impact locally, benefiting both SUNY Plattsburgh and Clinton Community College.
Michael Cashman, a member of the SUNY Plattsburgh University Council, emphasized the initiative's importance.
“It can be inspiring to students to pursue their academic careers and dreams. This initiative will help SUNY Plattsburgh and Clinton Community College attract a more diverse group of applicants, and it will also strengthen our community and workforce for the future,” Cashman said.
The free application period will run until Nov. 3.
